Kimberly Markarian, Soprano

Kimberly Markarian is an operatically trained lyric soprano, with a crazy belt, that has a passion for music and a gift for communicating style and technique to aspiring artists. Since graduating with a Masters of Music, from the University of British Columbia in 2000, she has firmly established herself as a Musical Theatre Director and Vocal Instructor in the lower mainland. Kimberly teaches a wide range of styles & repertoire to her students including Pop, Rock, Musical Theatre, and Classical repertoire. She has recently received certification from Estill Voice International , as an Estill Master Trainer and is currently a faculty member of the Performing Arts School at Capilano University. The emphasis in her lessons is focused on building a strong foundation in vocal technique through understanding the basic anatomy and physiology of the voice. Over the last twenty years as a vocal instructor, through her thriving private studio, Kimberly has taught beginners from the young to “young at heart” and has enjoyed challenging them to participate in recitals, festivals, examinations, and competitions. Many have successfully auditioned for local theatre companies, and even for University Music programs across Canada, U.S.A., and the United Kingdom in Classical Music and Musical Theatre Programs. Kimberly has continued her growth as an artist by developing her own skills as a local director and producer of Musical Theatre. Since 2015 she has been the Kay Meek Youth Conservatory Program Director. Over the last ten years of the Conservatory they have successfully mounted Footloose, Grease, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Seussical, Aladdin, Fame, Shrek, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Into the Woods, Annie, The Music Man, The Addams Family, High School Musical, Dear Edwina, and 13, the Musical. Kimberlycontinues to create opportunities for young artists in her community, to raise the level of their technical skill, and ignite their passion in performance!
